2nd anniversary, new conference suite!

ChangeKitchen celebrate 2nd anniversary with SIFA Fireside at launch of refurbished conference suite

Social Enterprise – ChangeKitchen, Birmingham’s award winning vegetarian and vegan catering company celebrated its second anniversary on 15 June, whilst unveiling their newly refurbished conference suite. The conference suite was completed by Carillion volunteers and sub contractors as part of Carillion’s ‘Charity Challenge’. Invited guests from the community, charity, public and private sectors also saw the unveiling of ChangeKitchen’s new branding and corporate packed lunches with a difference.

Working alongside Birmingham homelessness charity, SIFA Fireside, in its second year in business ChangeKitchen has gone from strength to strength. This includes catering for private, public and voluntary sector events, conferences and birthday parties, while offering training opportunities to those who face disadvantage and healthy eating workshops for the local community. Recent catering activities include a launch event for Deloitte at their Olympic Park hospitality suite, MAC Birmingham’s Food Festival, The Vale Festival (Birmingham University) and the Social Enterprise Exchange conference in Glasgow. ChangeKitchen’s ethical wedding catering is also highly praised by happy couples.

Dr Birgit Kehrer, Director, ChangeKitchen said: ‘This is a really exciting time for us at ChangeKitchen. We are now establishing a fantastic reputation across the West Midlands from customers who, as well as loving our food, also buy into our ethos of environmental, cultural and social sustainability. We are keen to build on this success by offering more opportunities to individuals that face disadvantage as well as promoting exciting vegan and vegetarian cuisine to a wider audience. Plans include a pop-up cafe, corporate lunch boxes and cookery workshops. Carillion’s help with re-furbishing the conference space will now offer us an additional outlet that incorporates catering and events in one space. The future is looking bright for ChangeKitchen!’

Cath Gilliver, SIFA Fireside’s Chief Executive said: ‘I’d like to wish ChangeKitchen a happy second birthday. The idea of converting a former SIFA Fireside ‘drop-in’ kitchen (with the help of volunteers), into a commercial catering kitchen, resulted in ChangeKitchen’s inception. Our successful application to Carillion’s Charity Challenge, has now given us the opportunity to develop an integrated conference facility in the heart of Birmingham, that will offer ethical catering and conference facilities – a great business opportunity for both our organisations.’

Bookings for the new meeting facility in the heart of Birmingham can be made now – with special prices on offer for the first three months. The facility is also listed as part of the Think Venue (http://www.tvtts.coop/venue/changekitchen-cic-meeting-rooms/2907).
